7 Top Networking Tips to keep your business growing through the festive season.

1. Xmas parties
Christmas parties and celebrations are a fantastic opportunity to develop your network as long as you remember “networking is NOT about making a sale”.  Nobody wants to be sold to at any networking event and even less at a Christmas party. But now is the time to show genuine interest in the people you meet.  How has business been over the past 12 months?  Are they thinking of doing anything new or different in the new year?  Is there any way you can help?  Perhaps there are ways that you can work together to develop both your businesses in 2010?

2. Follow up
Did you know that 95% of people fail to follow up after a networking event? Don’t be one of them!  Why not make a New Year resolution to follow up from all your networking activities in 2010?

3. Re-connect
So perhaps you have been one of the 95% over the past year.  Its easy to do.  Many of us schedule time for networking and forget to schedule time for the all important follow up afterwards.  But it is never too late – Christmas provides an awesome opportunity to reconnect with people you met earlier in the year and never got around to following up. Send a Christmas card or greeting or make a friendly phone-call. Perhaps even a special report or something they can download that will really add value to their business or their life in 2010.

Want to give Christmas gifts or special offers to your clients? Why not look at strategic alliances or joint ventures to provide extra value to your clients and expand your data base at the same time?

5. Review and evaluate
Has your networking paid off in 2009? The end of the year provides a great opportunity to review your networking efforts and make decisions about how to spend your networking dollar in 2010.
